Role: Sr. Product Designer
Duration: Q2–Q3 2023
Context
Spotify Stages was established as team with the goal of elevating Spotify to a top-tier promoter for touring artists. Our mission was to unify a multifaceted industry by leveraging our technology to cater to the diverse needs of venues, promoters, and ticketing services. I took on the role of lead designer, driving initiatives that harmonized product experiences with the immersive design of our featured shows.

Bridging digital & physical solutions

Our objective was to push the boundaries of what our users expect out of Spotify. Correlating disparate experiences (audio, merch, media) to create a comprehensive story of what Spotify can offer fans before, during, and after a night out at one of our concerts.
A prototype for a place to get hyped and relive
Utilizing current offerings such as artist playlists, 'blends,' merchandise integrations, and other features to generate excitement for the event. Post-event, employing content capture, artist communications, and setlists to allow fans to relive their experience.

Emphasis on a visual experience

In terms of art direction our focus was on creating a natural environment for imagery and live photography to sit in, with soft, subtle gradients to emulate stage lighting.

Modular content

Each promoted show had a number of variations in terms of what artists and their teams were able to provide into this experience. It was important to create a modular system that would adapt to the needs of each promoted concert.

A design system

On top of being modular, for implementation purposes it was equally important to have a design system that could adapt to the various branding and photography elements that came from each artist. Thus a number of color theme variations were made to support a number of styles.

Entry points

I worked with our production and ticketing teams to develop a strategy of entry points to this experience that included pre-event emails inviting them to tour the microsite before the event. This also included physical touch points in and around the venue for fans to discover organically. Further bridging the digital and physical nature of this unique experience.
